Worked example
Someone with an 85 cm waist and a height of 178 cm has a ratio of 85 divided by 178, which is about 0.48. That sits just inside the healthy band, below the 0.5 threshold. If their waist grew to 90 cm, the ratio would rise to about 0.51 and cross into the increased-risk band, a useful early warning to act on.
